The Flag of Victory; Republican Left - artist unknown, 1937.

Izquierda Republicana was a Spanish left-wing republican political party founded by Manuel Azaña in 1934 after the defeat of the various left-wing republican parties in the 1933 elections. The party brought several of those parties together in a coalition.

Joining the Popular Front for the elections of February 1936, it played a prominent role during the Second Spanish Republic and in the moments leading up to the beginning of the Civil War.

During the Franco dictatorship the party practically disappeared, except in Mexico, where Azaña and others were in exile and it continued to have some activity.

From 1977 the party was reconstituted in Spain, although without having the importance of the historical party.
