Help Spain!
Help Spain! by The Artists' International Association, 1936
Poster produced to raise awareness of the bombing of civilians and seeking support and intervention from outside of Spain.
The Artists’ International Association was formed in London in 1933 as a group of left-wing anti-fascist artists associated with the Communist Party of Great Britain. By 1936 there were around a thousand members.
A 1935 exhibition called Artists Against Fascism and War included works by Robert Medley, Paul Nash and Henry Moore. The group actively supported the Spanish Republic through exhibitions and fundraising.
The Association was wound up in 1971 having abandoned its political commitment in 1953.
