Angela Davis, born in 1944, is an African American feminist communist revolutionary, philosopher and academic. She joined the Communist Party USA and the Black Panther Party in 1968. She resigned from the Panthers after they banned dual membership, but continued to be active. She finally left the CPUSA after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 and the attempt by Communist hardliners to hold onto power.
She has been active in the second-wave feminist movement, prison abolition and campaigned against the Vietnam War.
The People's World magazine cover was created at the time that Angela Davis was in prison awaiting trial in relation to an incident in a court room in California in August 1970 where a judge and three other men were killed during an attempt to free three black defendants. Angela Davis had supplied several of the guns that had been used and under Californian law all persons concerned in the commission of a crime are considered to have taken part. Angela Davis was found not guilty and released in June 1972.

The suncatcher comes with a plastic sucker to fix it to the window, leaving no residue if you decide to move it.
