Arms for the Spanish People - For Liberty & Democracy, postcard produced by the National Council of Labour , February 1938, arguing for Britain to provide weapons to the Spanish Republic, against the terms of the failed non-intervention pact.
Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, while also signatories, ignored the terms that they had signed up to; and provided troops, weaponry, tanks and aircraft to Franco.
The National Council of Labour existed between 1921 and 1946 for the stated purpose of coordinating the TUC and the Labour Party - with members of the TUC General Council and the Labour Party National Executive Committee.
